NATCHEZ – Services for Elijah “L.D.” Dottery Jr., 95, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Adams County Nursing Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Greater New Zion Baptist Church, on Oak Street, with the Rev. Richard Noble officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Dottery was born Oct. 18, 1913, in Natchez, the son of Elijah Dottery Sr. and Eleatha Dottery. He attended Adams County Schools and Natchez Junior College. Before retirement in 1978, he was employed with Johns-Manville and was the owner of a meat market.
Mr. Dottery also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of The American Legion.
Mr. Dottery was a member of Greater New Zion Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to gospel music.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers; and four sisters.
