It was reportedly an escalation of a verbal altercation that resulted in the fatal stabbing of a Ferriday man, allegedly at the hands of his step-grandson.
When police arrived at the scene at 320 Iowa St., they found Gregory Conner, 42, stabbed once in the chest.
Conner and his step-grandson allegedly got into a confrontation that led to the stabbing, Ferriday Investigator Johnny Evans said.
Conner was transported to Riverland Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Conner had reportedly told his grandson to come into the house because there was a conversation going on in the front yard that involved some cursing, and Conner did not want the juvenile to continue in the conversation, Evans said.
The step-grandson reportedly did not want to come in, and the two got into an argument.
“Some words were passed and the juvenile went into the kitchen and retrieved a knife,” Evans said.
No one else was involved in the incident, Evans said.
The teen was charged with second-degree murder.
The Ferriday Police have not released the name of the juvenile at this time because they are still deciding whether or not to charge him as an adult, Evans said.
