NATCHEZ – Services for Flavius H. Smith, 78, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Aug.16, 2008, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McNeely Road Church of God with the Rev. Steve Bullion and the Rev. Julius Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Smith was born April 25, 1930, in Franklin County, the son of Nick S. and Mattie Strait Smith. He was a member of McNeely Road Church of God and enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Lawston Smith, Percy Smith, Odie Smith, Cecil Smith, and Herman Smith; five sisters, Eunilee Smith, Monell Smith, Lottie Smith, Mattie Rea Terrell and Mavis Bruner.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Pauline Day Smith; three daughters, Dr. Angie Bukley of Estell Springs, Tenn., Stephanie Butts and husband, Russell, both of Natchez, and Melanie Butler and husband, William, both of Glen Allen, Va.; six grandchildren, Russ Butts, Hayden Butts, Molly Butts, Andrew Butler, Austin Butler, Amanda Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Russell Butts, Russ Butts, Hayden Butts, Andrew Butler, Austin Butler, William Butler and Spencer Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wes Halford, Dick Smith, Rayford Smith, Hollis Allred, W.C. McCurly, James Taylor, Roy Smith, Roger Smith and Roy Buckles.
Memorials may be made to McNeely Road Church of God or a charity of choice.
