MEADVILLE – Services for Alfred M. Cothren, 78, of Meadville, who died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in Collins, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thomas Griffin, Elder Luke Addison and Elder David Cothren officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Cothren was born July 8, 2008, in Franklin County, the son of Gordie Cothren and Fannie Temple Cothren.
He retired from International Paper Company after 42 years of service. He was a member of Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
Mr. Cothren also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He lived a very active and full life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Peggy Seale Cothren; three sons, Mitchell Cothren and wife, Dina, and Rex Cothren and wife, Theresa, all of Meadville, and Ronnie Cothren and wife, Amy, both of Liberty; two daughters, Janice Wilson and husband, Billy, both of Meadville, and Sherrie McClatchy and husband, Robert, both of Natchez; one sister, Nellie Rae Andrews of Summit; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Cothren, Mac Cothren, Justin Thompson, Todd Thompson, Tanner Cothren, Lail Cothren, Joseph McClatchy and Joseph Cothren.
