If you got a little wet picking up your newspaper this morning, be thankful. The remnants of Tropical Storm Fay moved into the area over the weekend to bring much-needed rain to this drought-stricken area.

As Fay provides nourishment to area fields and gardens, lets review other good news of the week:

4 It wasn’t raining cats and dogs at Stine Lumber on Saturday, but it was close. The Natchez-Adams County Humane Society had its first open adoption at the Natchez hardware store Saturday. In all, 16 cats and dogs were adopted to good homes.

4Isle of Capri’s general manager may have lost a little off the top Thursday, but it was all for a good cause. Tony Scudiero made good on his promise to shave his head if his employees raised $5,000 to help fellow Isle of Capri workers hit hard by the Iowa floods earlier this year. The employees exceeded Scudiero’s goal and raised $10,500.

4The United Way of the Greater Miss-Lou kicked off its annual fund drive Thursday with foot-stomping music and plates of jambalaya. The event was a great start to what promises to be a successful campaign.

4The Town of Ferriday completed its grant application to the Louisiana Main Street Association with days to spare. Town officials hope grants from the program could help foster economic development in the area.
