Power crews deserve a big thank you

Looking across the Mississippi River Tuesday night, Vidalia never looked so good.
Vidalia had electricity less than 24 hours after the worst of Hurricane Gustav hit. Within a few minutes of Vidalia’s enlightening moment, parts of downtown Natchez suddenly sprung up, too.
In less than 24 hours, the hardworking crews of Entergy and other utilities companies managed to make significant progress in restoring power to the area.
Despite having lost all five transmission lines coming into Natchez, the Entergy workers and their contractors seem to be doing amazingly quick work.
What’s more amazing is that they were doing this work as the tail end of the storm swept through the area.
From driving rains to high wind gusts, these brave men and women are working around the clock to get power restored.
As frustrating as it might be to see your neighbor’s house light up with newly restored juice while you’re still sitting in the dark, we all must realize that workers are working as quickly and as safely as they can.
Block by block, house by house, as the lights come back on, the Miss-Lou will yet again shine bright as life gets back to normal.
But we’ll forever be indebted to the heroes driving around in the big bucket trucks, wearing hard hats.
You know the ones, the ones who work day and night in rain and wind to get your lights back on.
