Smith wins BBA event

JONESVILLE — The Ridgecrest-based Borderline Bass Anglers held their September 13th tournament on an 82 degree Tew Lake just north of Jonesville in 83-88 degree mild cloudy conditions with winds gusts to 40mph.

The whitecapping clear high water only produced 24 keepers, 3 limits plus 3 zips for the 10 surfing members.

Winner Buddy “Young Gun” Smith continued his banner year by culling three limits to a 5 fish 9.40 pound limit on worms and a crankbait.

Barry Chapman had a solid 9.15 pound limit with the 4.45 lunker on worms while Wayne Dolittle was a distant 3rd with a 5.60 limit.

Others weighing bass were Ricky “Team G-Loomis” Gillespie with 3 for 4.15 on worms, Joey Chapman (3 for 3.60), Tourney Director Bill Murray (2 for 2.10) and Doug “Team Kistler” Schexnyader (1 for 1.25).

Also fishing were Cliff Chapman, Steve Gibson and Jeffery Odom. The BBA ends their current fishing year October 11th.
