Troy beats up on Alcorn State, 65-0

TROY, Ala. (AP) — Jamie Hampton threw for 323 yards and four touchdowns as Troy won its home opener over Alcorn State 65-0 on Saturday night.
The Trojans (2-0) set a school record for total offense, outgaining the Braves 736-120.
Alcorn State fell to 0-3.
Hampton, who was removed from the game by the start of the second half, was 26 of 37 passing with two interceptions. He also ran for 45 yards and a touchdown on six carries.
Maurice Greer added 113 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries for the Trojans, who led 52-0 by halftime.
Troy went up 7-0 in the first quarter on Hampton’s 10-yard pass to Jerrel Jernigan. DuJuan Harris later scored on a 3-yard run to make it 14-0.
Troy blew the game open in the second quarter.
Hampton connected on touchdown passes of 15 and 38 yards to Mykeal Terry, hit Austin Silvoy for a 9-yard touchdown and also rushed for a 1-yard score. Greer added a 60-yard touchdown run as Troy built a 52-0 lead at halftime.
Troy defensive back Sherrod Martin tied a school record with three interceptions.
Alcorn State couldn’t find much room on the ground or in the air.
Starting quarterback Tim Buckley was just 7-of-22 for 16 yards and three interceptions while backup Tony Hobson was 4-of-12 for 24 yards and two interceptions.
Alcorn was led by Eric Relf, who gained 43 yards on just seven carries.
The Braves return home Thursday night to play against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
