FERRIDAY – Services for Heith “Dic” Smith, 28, of Vidalia, who died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Franklin Medical Center Winnsboro, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home, in Ferriday, with the Rev. Ron Ferrington officiating.
Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery, in Newellton, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 24, 1979, in Natchez, the son of Howell Smith and Georgia Smith. He was employed as a driller for D and D Drilling and enjoyed drinking beer, coon hunting, deer hunting, dove hunting, riding horses and spending time with his girls.
Survivors include his wife, Monica Smith; his parents; three daughters, Mikayla, Marleigh and Hannah Smith; one unborn son, Landon Heith Allen Smith; mother-in-law, Teri Sanders of Natchez; father-in-law, Tommy Sanders of Natchez; two sisters, Amy Lucas and husband, Jon, both of Jonesville, and Kim Melton and husband, Mack, both of Vidalia; one niece, Destiny Lucas of Jonesville; two brothers-in-law, Jay and Jeremy Sanders; two best friends, Derand Snelson and Andy Guillory; his dog, Coon Dog Andy; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Pallbearers will be Andy Guillory, Derand Snelson, Trenton Simmons, Cody Shelson, Rusty Jordan, Marion Stewart, Allen Cunningham and Reginald Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Smith, Joe Franklin, Dennis Nichols, Dustin Tillman, Simon Walley, Joseph “Pops” Williams, Jesse Horton and Dee Horton.
