WOODVILLE – Services for George “Bubba” Jarvis Jr., 80, of Woodville, who died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at Field Memorial Hospital, in Centreville, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Zion Hill Baptist Church, in Woodville, with the Rev. Charles Bell officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedar Rest Cemetery, in Woodville, under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Jarvis was born June 20, 1928, in Woodville, the son of George and Lorean Turner Jarvis. He was a heavy equipment operator for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He attended Chapel Baptist Church in Woodville.
Mr. Jarvis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice McQuirter Jarvis; three sons; one daughter; four sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Oliver J. Veals of Milpitas, Calif., and Daniel Veals of Woodville; nine daughters, Emma Stewart of San Francisco, Evelyn Riley of Metairie, La., Jessie Thomas, Mary Conrad and Cordel Brown, all of Baton Rouge, Orlean Veals, Shelia Andrews, Sarah Veals and Mable Brown, all of Woodville; three sisters; two brothers; 45 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
