Services for Hulon D. Estis, 69, of Vidalia, who died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Young’s Funeral Home with Brother Tommy Estis officiating.

Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery, in Manifest, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Estis was born Nov. 22, 1938, in Manifest, the son of Willis Samuel Estis and Ellen Sikes Estis.

He was a resident of Vidalia, a Master Carpenter and he serves his country in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Estis was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jack, Pat and J.C. “Monk” Estis; and one sister, Irma Heard.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Estisl one son, Hulon D. Estis II., of Vidalia; one brother, Ray Estis, of Manifest; and one sister, Mary “Chee” Ford, of Houma, La; five individuals he was a father figure to, Dana Estis Nettles, Jackie P. Estis Jr., Loria Estis Collier, Sgt. Robert Lively and Cornell Lewis; other family members, Faye James, of Ridgecrest, Barbara Kirby, of Ferriday, David L. Estis, of Mississippi, Nancy Brown, of Slaughter, La., Rufus Estis, of Houston, and Delois Chambers, of Pineville; and his mother-in-law, Allie Campbell, of Vidalia.

Pallbearers will be Jackie P. Estis, Jr., Kenneth Estis, Steve Estis, Dean Nettles, Cornell Lewis and Randy Collier.

Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Holmes, David L. Estis Sr., and Robert Lively.
