Hugh Dottery

RANTOUL, Ill. — Funeral services for Hugh Edward Dottery, 68, of Rantoul, who died Oct. 3, 2008 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Ill., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, in Rantoul, with the Rev. Joe Sheets officiating.
Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery.
Mr. Dottery was born Feb. 3, 1940 in Natchez, the son of Eugene Dottery Jr. and Alma Greene. He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1958. He joined the United States Air Force in 1958, and served 20 years till full retirement. During that time he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He married Harriette Zanders on Oct. 24, 1964. After retirement, he and his wife created and ran Dottery’s Daycare in Rantoul. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Natchez. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Alex Dottery.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Edward Dottery and wife Evon of Indianapolis, Ind.; one brother, Eugene Dottery and wife Nona of Indianapolis; one sister, Henri Louise Smith and husband Robert, of Natchez; two grandchildren; Allyson and Steven, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to The Cornerstone Project at First United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
