NATCHEZ — The overlay project of four major arteries in Natchez is right on schedule.

Homochitto Street was finished on Friday, and now the entire milling process of the three remaining streets — Franklin, Martin Luther King Jr. and St. Catherine — is 100 percent complete.

Ray Hess, project superintendent, said there’s still some cleanup to follow the milling, but that portion of the project is complete.

Raising of manholes and water valves will follow on the streets, and then paving will begin.

Franklin and St. Catherine streets will begin to see the laying of asphalt today and Martin Luther King Jr. will be last.

If all continues to go on schedule, the entire project will be done Dec. 5.

Striping the new roads will be the last part of the project to be completed.
