TALLULAH, La. — Huntington could not afford to look ahead to next week, as the Hounds took on a good Trojans team Friday night.

Scoring wasn’t the problem Friday night. Holding off the other team was.

And despite some lack of focus on defense, the Hounds held on for a 58-49 win to stay undefeated in District 6-A.

“Offensively, we played as good as we could,” Huntington head coach Chad Harkins said. “We didn’t play well defensively. Everything they ran was good. They ran a good scheme at us.”

Josh Lee and Jeremy Randall had their way with the Trojans’ defense. Randall had 15 carries for 183 yards and six touchdowns. His 32-yard scoring run with 7:22 to go in the fourth quarter gave Huntington (6-2, 5-0) a 52-43 lead. Lee had 17 carries for 172 yards and one touchdown. The Hounds finished with 549 yards of total offense.

Even though the Hounds gave up a lot of points to a team not known for its high-powered offense, it was Drew Loomis who preserved the win with an interception with 2:13 remaining in the game.

“We needed a game like that,” Harkins said. “We need to play better if we’re going to beat Glenbrook”
