VIDALIA — A Baton Rouge man was arrested after allegedly attempting to sell knock-off caps at a local convenience store.
Samed Y. Hamida, 28, 1426 Del Plaza Apt. B, Baton Rouge, was arrested Monday on charges of resisting an officer, illegal use of counterfeit trademark and forgery.
Hamida was reportedly selling fake Nike caps out of a Chevrolet minivan at the Rainbow Mini-Mart on Carter Street, Police Chief Ronnie G. “Tapper” Hendricks said.
Hamida was originally arrested for peddling within the city limits, but the forgery charges were added when authorities discovered the caps were not genuine Nike products, Hendricks said.
No bond was set and Hamida was detained for U.S. immigration authorities because he is a Palestinian national.
