VIDALIA — After last week’s win over the visiting Bunkie Panthers, Vidalia will look to make its record 3-3 against Marksville as the Vikings visit the struggling Tigers Friday for a District 3-3A contest.

Vidalia (2-3, 1-0) defeated Bunkie 26-12 last week in an upset.

“We played exceptionally well last week,” Vidalia head coach Dee Faircloth said. “We don’t need to take two weeks off after a big win like we have in the past.”

Kevin Johnson led the Vikings to last week’s win with 244 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

This week, Vidalia will face a Marksville team that is coming off of a win over their district rival Avoyelles.

“Marksville is young, but solid,” Faircloth said. “We will have to stop Jordan Williams.”

Williams is a wide receiver for the Tigers, but will also see time at tailback.

Vidalia will need to play solid to take a win over Marksville, a team that Faircloth says the Vikings can’t take lightly.

“They are probably a better team than Bunkie,” Faircloth said. “They have a lot of athletes.”

In order for the Vikings to win, the offensive line will have to come through and provide their tailbacks with room to run.

“They did a good job last week,” Faircloth said. “We just need to continue what we have been doing.”

Vidalia only attempted three passes last week, but may throw the ball more against Marksville if the run doesn’t work.

The Viking defense will also need to play another good game for Vidalia to succeed against the Tigers.

“We can’t take them lightly,” Faircloth said. “They are a very good team.”
