BATON ROUGE (AP) — Republican Senate candidate John Kennedy isn’t losing the advertising support of national Republicans after all.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee reversed course on Friday, buying more television ad time in Louisiana for next week, to run ads supporting Kennedy’s election. Earlier this week, the NRSC had pulled its ad dollars.
But a spokeswoman for the organization says internal polling numbers show the race between Kennedy and Democratic incumbent Mary Ladrieu is tightening, prompting the new ad plans.
The NRSC largely has run attack ads against Landrieu in the race.
