VIDALIA – Services for Ruthie Merriman-Carter, 52, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Riverland Medical Center, in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church in Vidalia.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Carter was born May 25, 1956, in New Orleans, the daughter of Willie and Herman Blackmon Collins. She was employed by Ridgecrest School as a teacher’s aid.
Survivors include her husband, Benjamin H. Carter Jr.; four sons, Marc Merriman of Slidell, La., Worthem Merriman III of Houston, Texas, Devin Collins of Ferriday and Christopher Collins of New Orleans; two brothers, Willie Collins Jr. of New Orleans and Calvin Blackmon of Peco Riveria, Calif.; four sisters, Deloris Anderson of Ferriday, Dorothy Collins and Patricia Thomas, both of New Orleans, and Shirley Smith of Westwego, La.; 12 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
