SUMMIT – Services for Ernest Everette Flowers Jr., who died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at St. Dominic Hospital, in Jackson, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Moaks Creek Baptist Church, in Summit, with the Rev. Alton Foster officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Jones Family Funeral Services.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Flowers was born March 4, 1958, in New Orleans, the son of Ernest E. Sr. “Pete” and Geraldine McGuffie “Gerry” Flowers. He was a graduate of O. Perry Senior High School, in New Orleans, and Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit. His degree in computer programming led to his job with Louisiana Land and Exploration.
Sonny had a great love and talent for restoring classic cars. This love led him to attend many drag races. He also had a love for Catahoula dogs, having owned many through the years. His last dog, Cam, preceded him only a few weeks. He enjoyed fishing and shooting turtles off logs in his country ponds.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Algiers.
He was preceded in death father; one uncle, Larry Clinton Flowers Jr.; and two aunts, Adris Flowers Morris D’Aquila and Yvonne McGuffie McGlothing.
Survivors include his mother; three aunts, Mary F. Carter and Ruth F. Welsh, both of Woodville, and Vivian Mae Brinson of Kissimmee, Fla.; seven cousins, Claudia Carter Reed, Connie Carter Waters, Larry Clinton Flowers III, William Vandy Morris III, Kay D’Aquila Smith, Haynes Edward Brinson and Sam McGlothing Bogess; his friend, Connie Benoit of Algiers; and a number of friends in that area who were a daily part of his life.
Pallbearers will be Larry Clinton Flowers III, William Vandy Morris III, Wensel “Ray” Parker Jr., Mike Burmaster, Bernie Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Lyons and W.C. Reed.
Memorials may be made to the American Liver Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
