NATCHEZ – Services for Milton Jones Jr., 66, of Rancho Murieta, Calif., who died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, in Sacramento, Calif., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Archie C. Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Egypt Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Archie C. Curtis Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones was born Feb. 15, 1942, the son of Milton Jones Sr. and Rosie Ivory Jones. He attended Brumfield Elementary School and graduated, with honors, from Sadie V. Thompson High School in 1960. He ranked third in the class of 100 students and was remembered most for his solos on the trumpet.
Mr. Jones attended Kent State University, in Kent, Ohio, and Southern University, in Baton Rouge, graduating in 1966 with a bachelor of architecture degree. He completed 32 years of employment with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in all facets of architectural design, design review, design project management and supervision of engineering staffs. During his career, he had the privilege to work abroad in Germany, Italy and Saudi Arabia. He retired from the Corps of Engineers in 1997.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister.
Survivors include three children, Milton Jones of Yuma, Ariz., Darlene Demetria Jones of Plano, Texas and Sandra Thomas Yearby of Atlanta; two sisters, Emma Skipper of Cleveland, Ohio and Virginia L. Jones of Natchez; two brothers, Joseph Jones of Cleveland and Lee Andrew Jones of Nashua, N.H.; and his devoted ex-wife, Rosemary Jones, who remained by his side at his greatest time of need.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
