JONESVILLE, La. – Services for Marion Smith, 72, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at LaSalle General Hospital in Jena, La., will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Jonesville with Brother Marshall Douglas and Brother Gary Norris officiating.
Burial will follow at Smith Family Cemetery, near Jonesville, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville.
Mr. Smith was born March 6, 1936, in Fordoche, La., the son of Wilton Joseph and Elvina Smith. He was employed as an electrician and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesville.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Gloria Hinson Otwell; his parents; and two half brothers, Patrick Smith and Wilton Smith Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Smith; two daughters, Carolyn Smith Beatty and husband, Gerry, both of Jacksonville, Fla. and Rhonda Smith Blackwell and husband, Arthur, both of Pontchatula, La.; one son, Michael Wayne Smith and wife, Becky, both of Robertsdale, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Glen Wilson, Trey Hinson, Arthur Blackwell, Gerry Beatty, John Beatty and David Marshall.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jonesville.
