Music, art, vote top week’s news

Temperatures cooled this week, but life in the Miss-Lou didn’t change much — it’s still full of charm.
And with our regular charm came a few great headlines this week. Let’s review some of the good news.
4Ferriday is now playing host to a nationally touring Smithsonian Museum exhibit. The exhibit is, of course, on music. New Harmonies highlights the music that Ferriday helped to make famous.
We are lucky to have such an exhibit just down the road, and we hope everyone will take advantage of the opportunity while the exhibit is here.
4Preparations are under way for this year’s edition of Angels on the Bluff fundraiser for the Natchez City Cemetery. And while volunteers and re-enactors get ready for the show, local artist Aimee Guido has already done her part.
Guido illustrated the shirt that will be sold to raise funds for the cemetery.
We love to see local artists share their work with the rest of us, and we are happy her design was chosen for the great annual event.
4Robert Lewis Middle School students are putting their government lessons to the test and casting their votes early. The students are participating in a national mock presidential election. This is a great chance for students — too young to really vote — to get involved in one of our nation’s most important decisions. We hope this mock election means they will be better voters when the time comes.
Yet another fun weekend has come and gone. The Longwood Halloween Carnival highlighted the area events and raised some much-needed money in the process. And we know more charming events are to come.
