NATCHEZ — Police arrested a Natchez man Wednesday for his alleged role in thefts from a vehicle and a local hospital, and they suspect he may have been part of other illegal acts.
Travis Parker, 49, 112 North St., was arrested at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Street, and was charged with one count of burglary of an automobile and one count of grand larceny.
The burglary happened on Oct. 24.
Someone allegedly saw Parker in the process of stealing tools from a truck in an alley, and maneuvered their vehicle to block his vehicle in, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
The suspect reportedly abandoned his vehicle, Mullins said.
The grand larceny charge was pressed against Parker because he allegedly stole an air compressor from a local hospital earlier that same morning, Mullins said.
Police were not able to recover the air compressor, because Parker reportedly told them he sold it for $30 for crack cocaine, Mullins said.
Police later recovered a lawn mower from a family member of Parker’s that they believe to be stolen, and they discovered that he had at one time had a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle linked to several burglaries in June and July, Mullins said.
No bond was set for Parker until arraignment.
