FERRIDAY – Services for Manuel “Dixon” Dickerson, 65, of Ferriday, who quietly entered into eternal rest Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at his residence with his devoted wife, Juanita, at his side, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Leroy White officiating.
Burial will follow at the Dickerson Family Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Dickerson was born Dec. 11, 1942, in Woodville, the son of Darling Dickerson Sr. and Annice Blakes Hendrick.
He was employed as a custodian at Headstart in Clayton.
Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rev. Royal E. Dickerson; two sisters, Rosetta D. Williams and Dorothy James.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Scott Dickerson; three daughters, De’Anna Dickerson of Ferriday, Dana D. Seals of Monroe and Ayna Morgan of Houston, Texas; one son, Manuel L. Seals of Monroe; mother-in-law, Johnnie L. Scott of Ferriday; three sisters, Mary Dunbar and Emelda D. Gaines, both of Woodville and Julia M. James of Los Angeles; six brothers, Darling Dickerson Jr. and wife, Debra, both of Baton Rouge, James C. Hudson and Herman Kennison, both of Los Angeles, Leon Kennison of North Carolina, Clarence Kennison of Hampton, Va. and Nehemiah Smith of Munford, Ala.; one aunt, Margaret L. Anthony of Woodville; eight grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
