NATCHEZ – Services for Shirley Phipps Perkins, 47, of Natchez, who died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Egypt Baptist Church, Kingston, with Pastor Willie Coulston Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Perkins was born Oct. 12, 1961, in Natchez, the daughter of McKinley Phipps Sr. and Edna Cage. She was employed by Daisy Street Grocery as a cashier. She was a member of Bright Morning Star Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband, Wesley Perkins; two children, Karla Phipps and Angela Baker; her mother and stepfather, Edna Cage and husband, Lonnie; three grandchildren, X’Zavier Owens, Makaila Broadus and Omarion Owens; four brothers, McKinley Phipps Jr. and wife, Virginia, Robert Lee Phipps and wife, Rosie, George Phipps and wife, Zabrina, and Varner Lee Phipps; one stepbrother, Eric Thorne; three sisters, Ida Phipps, Betty Ray and husband, Rudy, and Ametra Green and husband, Clarence; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
