Vidalia trying to recover from tough loss

Vidalia — Coming off of a complete meltdown loss to Buckeye, the Vidalia Vikings will look to win their last two games of the season starting tonight at Avoyelles High School for a District 3-3A contest.

Vidalia (2-5, 1-2) is a tough team to figure out and continues to confuse people after last week’s loss to Buckeye.

The Vikings took a 20-0 lead into the fourth quarter, but fumbled the ball away three times and let the Panthers escape with a 27-20 win.

This week, Vidalia will hope to heal their wounds with a win over a 1-7 Avoyelles team who is struggling through this season.

“If we come to play, we will be in good shape,” Vidalia head coach Dee Faircloth said. “It just depends on whether they want to go through the motions or not.”

The Vikings defeated the Mustangs last year but shouldn’t overlook Avoyelles.

“They have improved this year,” Faircloth said. “They are playing with a lot of confidence.”

Vidalia still has a chance to enter the playoffs, but they must win out in order to find themselves in the 32 team bracket.

“It’s gonna be interesting,” Faircloth said. “You never know with these guys.”

Vidalia will need to enter the game ready to play or they could find themselves adding another loss to an already disappointing season.
