NATCHEZ — A local man has been indicted by a grand jury on allegations he is complicit in a September 2007 murder.
Patrick Lewis Conner, 43, 598 Lower Woodville Road, was booked into the Adams County Jail on a grand jury indictment of murder Sunday.
The grand jury indictment against Conner alleges that he acted in concert with Mary Louise McQuarters in the Sept. 29, 2007, death of Pete Jackson, 52, Adams County Sheriff’s Investigator Maj. Jody Waldrop said.
Police reportedly found Jackson bludgeoned to death at his 317A Dumas Drive residence on Sept. 29, 2007.
McQuarters, who made the initial 911 call to report Jackson’s death, was charged with the murder the next day. She and Jackson had reportedly lived together for 13 years.
Indicted in February in connection with the murder, McQuarters was set to go to trial in August, but the trial was continued because prosecutors told the court they had discovered new evidence.
An indictment is not the same as a conviction.
When someone is indicted, that means that the grand jury believes the prosecutor has enough evidence to charge them with a crime and bring them to trial.
