JENA, La. (AP) — One of the three adults and two juveniles suspected of torching Jena High School’s main academic building in November 2006 has pleaded guilty.
LaSalle Parish Sheriff Scott Franklin said Wednesday that 21-year-old Marcus T. Lee was ordered to serve 10 years on a charge of simple arson, and three years each for three counts of distribution of marijuana, which are to run concurrently.
Lee’s plea was the first entered in the case, as the other cases are still pending.
The other adults arrested in connection with the arson were Joshua McGee and Dakota Graham, both of Jena.
Franklin has said that evidence points to the arson fire being set to get out of school and remove bad grades from the records of those involved.
