Spotlight isn’t just for cougar

Between cougar sightings a few other good things happened this week. And, though we welcome wildlife, we don’t want our mysterious four-legged friend to steal all the thunder from other local residents who are doing good.
Let’s review some of the week’s top headlines.
The Miss-Lou gathered at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Ferriday High and Vidalia High to honor our veterans. Ceremonies thanked these heroes for their service, and we’d like to add our own thank you to the list.
Blaine Davis — the manager of Stage in the mall — wanted to share the sights of World War II with Natchez. Davis arranged to have a traveling exhibit of photos make a stop at the Natchez Mall for a few months. The exhibit will be in town until Jan. 5.
Concordia Parish school psychologist Wilton Nolan was awarded the 2008 Outstanding School Psychologist of the Year award for Louisiana. Co-workers sing praises of Nolan, saying he is worthy of the title. Congratulations to Mr. Nolan and the district.
The Natchez Festival of Music and the Natchez Opera Guild have been busy lately. The groups are planning a special event to honor Dr. Don Killelea for his service to the festival. And, on top of that, they brought three wonderful performers to town Saturday for an evening show.
We know putting on the May festival is a year-round project, and we are grateful to those who volunteer.
We don’t yet know what news the cougar or others will bring this week, but we are confident life will continue to be good in the Miss-Lou.
