Truck accident cuts power in Natchez

NATCHEZ — A mid-afternoon power outage left 482 customers with out electricity in Natchez Monday.
Entergy’s Customer Service Manager Stephen Caruthers said the outage was caused when a large truck, likely an 18-wheeler, caught an overhead power line and pulled it down.
Caruthers said the circuit recognized the error and shut down.
And that left a lot of people, and businesses, in the dark.
Walmart, the Natchez Police Department and even Entergy’s own office was left without power.
“It was a pretty significant outage,” Caruthers said.
The power was out from 2:17 p.m. until 2:44 p.m.
Late Monday afternoon all but one customer was receiving power, Caruthers said.
