NATCHEZ — Over the course of five days, four four-wheelers and trailers have been stolen from Natchez houses and one church.

The first incident on Nov. 15 involved two males who allegedly disconnected a trailer with a four-wheeler on it from a vehicle on Merrill Street, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said.

The incident was witnessed by a neighbor, who called the owner of the four-wheeler, who then reported it to the police.

“By the time the homeowner called the police, the suspects had already unhooked the trailer from the vehicle and drove off with it,” Mullins said.

It was hooked to a dark-colored truck, he said.

The four-wheeler is a Bad Boy Buggy, camouflage in color, Mullins said.

A Polaris Razor side-by-side four-wheeler and its trailer was stolen between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday from a residence on Briarwood Road.

“A family member saw somebody out there and thought it was a relative and did not call the police,” Mullins said.

On Wednesday at an unknown time, a trailer parked behind a church on Oakland Drive was stolen.

Finally, during the course of Thursday, a Yamaha Rhino 450-cc four-wheeler and a Yahama Kodiak four-wheeler — both on a 16 foot by 7 foot trailer — were stolen from a residence on Ridgewood Road.

Mullins said it is probable that the same suspects have committed each grand larceny.

“We do not have evidence that these are the same suspects on all these cases, but it’s very likely these are the same suspects,” he said.

Mullins said special precautionary measures should be taken to prevent such equipment from being stolen.

“We recommend that if you have a trailer attached to a vehicle, any trailer you have should have a strong padlock on that trailer,” he said. “Also, it’s a good idea if you’re going to leave a four-wheeler on the back of a pick up truck or trailer, put an eye bolt into the truck bed or underneath the trail and chain the four-wheeler to the truck bed or trailer through the eye bolt with a heavy chain.”

He said the best solution, though, would be to store the four-wheelers and trailers in the garage.

A cash reward is being offered for any information on the stolen four-wheelers and trailers.

“Someone has seen these four-wheelers, someone knows their friends or family are riding on a stolen four-wheeler and we need this information,” Mullins said.
