NATCHEZ – Services for Ernest M. Yearta Sr., 88, of Natchez, who died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Foster officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Yearta was born May 1, 1920, in Heard County, Ga., the son of James D. and Lola Bell Steal Yearta.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Josephine Yearta.
Survivors include one son, Mac Yearta; one daughter, Agnes Priest, both of Natchez; four grandchildren, Nikki Burton and husband, Major, Vikki Nichols, Tina Powers and husband, Kenny, and Bubba Farris; seven great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Kristyn Burton, Mae Burton, Brayden Nichols, Samantha Morris, Chase Powers and Amber Farris; two sisters, Cordia Johnson of Natchez and Emma Person of Georgia; one brother, Doyle Yearta of Georgia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Yearta, Junior Lee Johnson, Bubba Farris, Major Burton, Don King and Joe Swoveland.
