NATCHEZ — Thursday’s snowstorm that wreaked havoc across much of southern Mississippi has forced several soccer games to be postponed.

Cathedral’s Division 7-1A/2A/3A games against Loyd Star at Brookhaven Friday night were postponed. Green Wave assistant coach Paul Burns said that Lady Green Wave head coach David Gaudé was trying to talk with one of Loyd Star’s coaches late Friday morning and into the afternoon about the possibility of having the games rescheduled for today at D’Evereux Stadium on the Cathedral campus.

Unfortunately, the Cathedral-Loyd Star soccer games won’t take place until next January and they will still take place at Loyd Star.

“We’ve got exams next week and we’ve got Christmas and New Year’s for two weeks. And we have to be finished with division play by the end of January because of the playoffs. The only clear dates we both have are the 9th and the 23rd,” Gaudé said.

Cathedral was also supposed to participate in the Brookhaven Tournament today, but that has been cancelled.

Natchez High’s home soccer games against North Pike will finally take place today. The action will start with the junior varsity game at noon, followed by the varsity girls’ game at 1 p.m. and concluding with the varsity boys game at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Franklin County’s Division 7-1A/2A/3A games at North Pike that were rescheduled from Tuesday night to Friday night have been postponed for the second time this week. No make-up date has been announced
