Historic Natchez Pageant 2009 royalty announced

The Pilgrimage Garden Club and the Natchez Garden Club recently announced their 2009 royalty at who will reign during the Historic Natchez Pageant in spring 2009.

Serving as Natchez Garden Club royalty are Hannah Whitney Loy and Jordan Farmer.

Hannah Whitney Loy – NGC queen

Loy is the daughter of Barry and Sue Loy of Natchez, and the granddaughter of Harley Loy and the late Jane Loy of Natchez, and Mr. and Mrs.Charles French of Mountt. Carmel, Ill.

She graduated from Cathedral High School in 2006 and attends the University of Mississippi where she is majoring in political science. Loy’s activities include 2006-2007 Residence Hall Association Representative, member Pi Beta Phi sorority, Associate Student Body senator, ASB Committee on First Year Experiences, ASB University Development Committee Chairman, member ASB Rules Committee, 2008 Panhellenic Executive Council Secretary/Treasure, member University Greek Council, member College Republicans, 2007 campaign manager for Homecoming Queen candidate, 2008 campaign manager for ASB treasure candidate, member of the selection committee for the 2008-09 editor of The Daily Mississippian, Volunteers for “Champions Are Readers” program at Oxford Elementary and Leap Frog after-school program, organizer of the 2008 CARE Walk for Breast Cancer, committee member for the “Go Green” initiative of the University of Mississippi, University of Mississippi volunteer for the Media Filing Center and for the Commission on Presidential Debates during the 2008 presidential debate at Ole Miss, and staff member of the viewing party and rally for John McCain preceding the presidential debate at Ole Miss.

Loy enjoys watching old movies and spending time with family and friends. Her previous pageant participation includes Showboat, Picnic, Big Maypole, Virginia Reel, Placard Bearer, Soriee, Polka and Wedding of Jefferson Davis.

Jordan Brent Farmer – NGC king

Farmer is the son of Henry and Marla Farmer of Natchez. He has one sister Madison Farmer. He is the grandson of Margaret Lonigro Searcy and Wade Martin of Natchez and the late Henry and Barbara Farmer of Natchez.

Farmer graduated from Cathedral High School in 2006. He attended Delta State University and is now attending Louisiana State University where he is pursuing a major in business administration with a minor in science. Jordan was a member of the Delta State Golf team where he received the Most Outstanding New Golfer award his freshman year. He was a member of the 2003-2006 Cathedral golf teams that secured three State Championships along with four district championships. He was also a member of the Cathedral football team. He has won four junior city golf championships, one city championship and one Beau Pré championship. He now attends Louisiana State University where he plans to become a member of the LSU golf team.

Farmer is a member of St. Mary Basilica and the CYO. His hobbies include golfing, hunting, fishing, weightlifting and LSU tailgating.

His previous pageant participation includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Fisher boy, The Picnic, Raising of the Flag, Polka, Wedding of Jefferson Davis and Soiré Lead.

Serving as Pilgrimage Garden Club royalty are Elizabeth Grafton Pritchartt and Martin Scott Hanson.

Serving as Pilgrimage Garden Club Queen for the 2009 Historic Natchez Pageant is Miss Elizabeth Grafton Pritchartt. She is the daughter of Melinda Carter Pritchartt and W. Howard Pritchartt, III, her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Julius M. Carter of Woodville, Bette C. Pritchartt of Covington, La and W. Howard Pritchartt, Jr. of Natchez.

Pritchartt is a 2006 graduate of Trinity Episcopal School where she was Miss THS 2006 and head cheerleader for 2006.

She currently attends the University of Mississippi where she is majoring in Journalism and Political Science. She is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority where she serves on the Kappa Delta Rush Team and as the Kappa Delta Public Relations Assistant; she is also on the Ole Miss Dean’s List. Miss Pritchartt is also a Leap Frog volunteer, a volunteer at the Angel Ranch home for abused children, a Girls Scouts mentor. She is a member of the College Republicans, a member of the Society of Professional Journalist and is the Media and Hospitality Manage for the Society of Professional Journalists.

She serves as a staff writer for the Daily Mississippian, as a guest writer for the MZine and also does broadcast reporting for NewsWatch on Ole Miss TV and for Rebel Radio.

Pritchartt is a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Natchez. Her hobbies include photography, running marathons, especially the St Jude’s Memphis Marathon, traveling, tennis, Ole Miss football and being in the Grove with her friends.

Her past participation in the Historic Natchez Pageant includes serving as the 1994 Court Page, Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Picnic, Polka and the bride in the Wedding of Jefferson Davis.

Serving as Pilgrimage Garden Club King this year is Martin Scott Hanson. He is the son of Sherry Martin Hanson of Natchez, and Sidney L. Hanson of Houston, Texas. His grandparents are Stella Roper Sharp and the late Henry E. Martin both of Natchez and Marie West Hanson and the late Sid Hanson of Dallas, Texas.

Hanson is a 2005 graduate of Trinity Episcopal School where he served as class president his sophomore and junior years and was voted most athletic his senior year. While at Trinity he was a member of the Varsity football, soccer, swimming, cross-country and track teams.

He is currently attending Louisiana State University where he is majoring in Business Management and Marketing. Prior to this he attended Copiah-Lincoln Commnity College where he played on the Co-Lin Wolves Soccer team.

He is an Eagle Scout for Troop 168 and his Eagle project was a landscape project for the Natchez Children’s Home. In 2006 he received the “Best in Show” Art award at the Mississippi Community College Art Show.

He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church youth group, the Jefferson Street United Methodist Church youth group and also the Natchez Bicycle Club. Hanson is a certified American Red Cross CPR and Lifeguard Instructor and has worked as a lifeguard for the Pilgrimage Garden Club and for Beau Pre Country club. He has also served as coach for the Trinity School soccer team and also the Brookhaven Academy girls soccer team.

He enjoys pottery, muscle car restoration, adventure racing, mountain bike racing, triathlons and running. His past participation in the Natchez Historic Pageant includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole where he the partner for 2008 PGC Queen Brittney Laird, 5 years as a member on the backstage crew and a General in 2008 PGC Court.
