DEVILLE — Graveside services for Liza Diana Seal Nichols, 33, formerly of Natchez, who died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at her residence will be Monday at Williams Cemetery in Angie under the direction of Poole Ritchie Funeral Home in Bougalusa.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nichols was born May 25, 1975 in Natchez, the daughter of Darrell G. Seal and Diana Cavazos Crosby. She was a former member of the internationally-award winning Mississippi Lions Club All-State Band. She traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii and performed at Pearl Harbor. She was a member of the Delta State Honor Band and a former band student of her band director uncle Omar V. Cavazos, former band director Marvin McDonald and private clarinet student of Dr. Jim Franklin.
She was a cheerleader at McLaurin Middle School, a drum major at Adams County Christian School and while she was at ACCS she ran track and was on the tennis team. Mrs. Nichols was honored as most likely to succeed and most talented. She was a former member of the Copiah-Lincoln Junior College band in Wesson.
Mrs. Nichols made her career in the medical field as an EMT and then furthered her career to become a paramedic with the Acadian Ambulance Service in Alexandria and Pineville.
Liza saved many people’s lives, and it was in her heart. Her life was the ambulance service and helping her patients and of course her family. She will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her father; stepfather Raymond L. Cosby; two grandparents, Glyn Seal, Reyes Cavazos and one step-grandfather, James O. Magee.
Survivors include her husband, Guy Nichols, of Deville; four children, Brooke Sims, Shelby Nugent, Hailey Nichols and Abby Nichols, all of Deville; her mother, Diana Cavazos Crosby, of Vidalia; one brother, Tyler P. Crosby, of Vidalia; one sister, Darreth Deal, of Port Gibson; grandmothers Adelita V. Cavazos of Natchez and Mayvon Cole of San Antonio; one uncle, Omar V. Cavazos of Natchez; one aunt, Irene C. Nelson and husband Mark of Clayton; step-grandmother Janice Magee of Vidalia and two cousins, Stephanie L. Thibadeaux and husband Mike and son Collin, of Marrero, and Marcie N. Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America or Catholic Charities USA.
