FERRIDAY — Services for Carl Boykin, 98, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Gaylon Dawson officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Boykin was born Nov. 15, 1910, in Philadelphia, the son of James Franklin Boykin and Mary Doby Boykin. He was employed as a truck driver most of his life until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Boykin; two daughters, Lucille Boykin Bamburg and Wanda Boykin Clay; one sister, Mamie Webb; four brothers, Feland Boykin, Alvie Boykin, Jack Boykin and Elwood Boykin; and one grandson, Chris Powers.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Boykin of Ferriday; five sons, Joe Boykin and wife, Lillie, Zane Boykin and wife, Carolyn, all of Ferriday, Keith Boykin and wife, Carla, both of Woodville, Wren Boykin and wife, Barbara, both of Natchez, and Freddie Boykin and wife, Willie Mae, both of Denham Springs, La.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stewart Boykin, Tommy Boykin, Ivan Hedrick, Carl Boykin and Carlton Boykin.
