NATCHEZ — Services for Lessie Mae Smith, 84, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, in Pearland, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hickory Block United Methodist Church in Union Church with the Rev. Burnell Newsome officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Smith was born May 5, 1924, in Union Church, the daughter of Esco and Ora Gibson. She attended Jefferson County schools. She was a Baptist and a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church. She was also a member of the United Spiritual Singers Quartet.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a loving son, James Smith of Las Vegas; three devoted daughters, JoAnne Smith of Pearland, Jean Smith and husband, Johnny, both of Jackson, and Evelyn Lorraine Smith of Natchez; two sisters, Lee Ora Smith of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Lou Fannie Kelly and husband, Roosevelt, both of Union Church; 10 grandchildren, James Smith III, Katrina Smith, Candise Smith, Jonathan Smith, Joshua Smith, Jeremy Smith, Leslie Robinson, Jasmine Smith, Valencia Robinson and Jennifer Smith; and one great-granddaughter, Akiriyiah McClellan.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
