VIDALIA — When local officials stand in the roadway today, it won’t be purely for the purpose of directing traffic — it will be for charity.

In what has become an annual event, the City of Vidalia will have a roadblock at the intersection of Carter and Cross streets to raise money for Feed the Hungry, a local food distribution program organized by First Assembly of God in Vidalia.

The roadblock will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

While cash donations are certainly appreciated, Feed the Hungry Director Linda Bonnette said donations of canned goods would be particularly helpful.

“We will have the Feed the Hungry truck parked there, and we will appreciate any canned goods anyone will bring,” she said.
