Centreville — Services for Jack R. “Buck” Darden, 71, of Centreville, who died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet/Pennington Cancer Center will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Centreville Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Johnsey and the Rev. Rusty Bowser officiating.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.

Mr. Darden was born Oct. 6, 1937, in Centreville, the son of Jack and Doris Darden.

He was a rancher, a retired game warden and a supervisor for Wilkinson County.

Mr. Darden was a member of Centreville Methodist Church.

He was one of the most faithful supporters of the Centreville Academy Athletic Program.

He was loved by many friends, too numerous to count, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Darden was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Gloria S. Darden; one son, Jewell Jack “Bucky” Darden and wife Angie, and their three children, Jake, Matt and Lacy; three daughters, Lara Lyons and husband Brook, and their two children, Sydnie and Blake, Lori Miley and her two daughters, Renee and Macie, and Dana McNabb and husband, Guy; three sisters, Katherine Hughes and husband, Curtis, and Ann Greer and husband, Johnny, both of Centreville, and Dottie Brady and husband, Derwood, of Liberty; one brother, Willis Darden and wife, Maxine, of Centreville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Darden Brady, Steve Brady, Dan Dalton, Thomas Greer, Curt Hughes, Cliff Hurst, Kent O’Neal, Jennings Reid and Rusty Vine.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Baham, Derwood Brady, Talmadge Bunch, Doug Cooke, Henry Darden, Johnny Greer, Raymond Haynes, Curtis Hughes, Bill Hurst, J.D. Lobrano, Boonie McGraw, Harrison McGraw, Bodie Miley, Dr. Delton Moore, Donnie Vine, and the entire Centreville Academy varsity football team.
