Theoplis Marshall

VIDALIA — Services for Theoplis G. Marshall, 70, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Promise Specialty Hospital in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Stephen Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Birdon officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Marshall was born April 5, 1938, in Vidalia, the son of Sylvester Marshall and Myrtis Bailey Carter. He was employed as a correctional officer and was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia. He was also retired from the military after 25 years of service in the U.S. Army and Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Ruth Marshall; his mother of Ferriday; one son, Marcus Marshall of Tucson, Ariz., two daughters, Mauvis Marshall of Denver and Lydia Mack and husband, Earl, both of Aurora, Colo.; 10 stepchildren, Dwayne Mitchell and Kemp Bennett, both of Tacoma, Wash., K.O. Bennett and Gellenda Burns and husband, Samuel, all of Vidalia, Marco Bennett of Atlanta, David Green and Madeline J. Mitchell, both of Natchez, Debra Bates and husband, McKinley, both of Ferriday, Mona Stanton and husband, Stacey, both of Baton Rouge, and Annie Bennett of Jonesville; one niece, Verna Roach and husband, Mitchell, both of Virginia; four nephews, Carl Marshall and wife, Linda, both of Washington, D.C., Rickey Marshall, Edward Marshall Jr. and Wayne Marshall, all of Virginia; five grandchildren; and a number of step-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
