Week after storm brings good news

The National Weather Service made us all happy this week when they confirmed what many already knew — it was a tornado.
And though a tornado is never good news, the week after the storm did bring plenty of other good headlines.
Let’s review some of the highlights of the week.
4 Area students had a day at the park Monday, as they met with Assistant Secretary of the Interior Lyle Laverty. Laverty was in town to promote the fun of National Parks to children. Natchez is lucky to have the National Park Service in town, and we hope our children and adults are enjoying what we’ve got.
4 The tornado that ripped through town provided a great chance for the city and county to work together. Since most of the storm damage was in the city limits, the county board of supervisors agreed to lend their men and equipment to the city-cleanup effort.
It was great to see the county trucks out Tuesday, and we hope this cooperation only opens the door for more.
4The Concordia Christmas Fund got organized Friday. The group prepared gifts for children in need. The charity has been a great community service for years, and we are thankful for the volunteers that keep it going.
4In Natchez, Santa Cop once again thrilled children and officers alike Saturday morning. Police officers treated children to a breakfast and a shopping trip just in time for the holidays.
As Christmas closes in, remember the true meaning for the season, and the stresses of life will fade, making room for plenty more good news.
