VIDALIA — James Earl Whittington, 80, of Vidalia, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center.
A private memorial service will be at a later date.
Mr. Whittington was born March 12, 1928, in Olla, La., the son of Howard and Eunice Whittington. He was retired from Natchez Regional Medical Center. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Whittington served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, Tommy G. Heathcoat.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Whittington; one brother, Howard Whittington of Potts Camp; one son, Jamie Whittington and wife, Ann, both of Ferriday; one daughter, Yolanda Heathcoat of Vidalia; one foster child, Michael Hood of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Amanda Heathcoat and Tommy Heathcoat, both of Vidalia, Amie Whittington of Jackson, Trey Whittington of Natchez, Megan Whittington of Ferriday; one step-grandchild, Amy Lee of Gulfport; and two great-grandchildren.
