NATCHEZ — A 16-year-old Natchez High School student was killed in a one-vehicle accident in south Adams County Thursday afternoon.
Adams County Sheriff Ronny Brown said Larry Brown Jr., of 292 Cranfield Road, was driving westbound on Southwind Road when he ran off the road.
“Conditions out there were slick,” Ronny Brown said.
Ronny Brown said the car left the road on the left-hand side as it was traveling around a corner, fell approximately 10 feet into a bayou and struck a tree.
Adams County Coroner James Lee said Larry Brown Jr. died from head and neck trauma.
The driver was dead on impact, officials said.
“He wasn’t wearing a seat belt,” Ronny Brown said. “We can’t say if that would have saved him or not.”
Ronny Brown said investigation of the accident is ongoing.
While Lee said he believes neither drugs nor alcohol were not involved in the accident, a routine toxicology test is pending.
Larry Brown Jr. was a sophomore lineman for the Natchez High School football team.
The Natchez Fire Department also responded to the call that came in at 2:29 p.m.
