NATCHEZ — Services for Claudie Lee “Hawk” Mitchell, 79, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at noon Saturday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, in Sibley, with the Rev. James E. Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Mitchell was born Oct. 8, 1929, in Wilkinson County, the son of Willie Mitchell and Mary McDonald Mitchell. He attended Adams County public schools and was employed at Rocking D Ranch as a cattle rancher. He was retired.
Mr. Mitchell was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church and served as the church’s parking attendant. He was also a member of 12 Gauge Hunting Club and Universal Home Support Grand Lodge No. 1.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Elnora King and Addie Jones; one brother, Willie Mitchell; and one granddaughter, Patricia Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Mitchell; one son, Henry Mitchell and wife, Bobbie; one daughter, Mary Ann Brown and husband, Fred; five sisters, Willie Mae Hampton of Hattiesburg, Alma Walker of Ferriday, Emily Ann Mitchell and Willie L. Johnson-Brady and husband, Clyde, all of Houston, Texas, and Mary Mitchell of Kenner, La.; one brother, Anderson Walker of Rosca, Calif.; six grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Kitchens, Eddie King, Louis Butler, Trymone Williams, Donald Ray Barnes and Joseph Williams.
