Mabel Z. Carter

Gloster — Services for Mabel Z. Carter, 87, of Gloster, who died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at noon Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster with the Rev. Reggie Forman officiating.

Burial will follow at Roseland Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carter was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Arkansas, the daughter of Andrew Zimmerman and Rosie Yearke Zimmerman.

She was the retired owner and operator of H.S. Carter’s Plumbing and Heating of Gloster.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, H.S. Carter Sr.; one son, H.S. Carter Jr.; four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include four children, Talmadge W. Carter and wife Berta, of Gonzales, La., Elizabeth Ann Havard and husband Charles, of Semmes, Ala., Robert L. Carter and wife Angelika, of Gloster, and Woodrow W. Carter and wife Darlene, of Welsh, La.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Johnny Zimmerman, of Meadville.
