SOUTHAVEN (AP) — Southaven officials will re-evaluate the citiy’s four-day work week after January but, so far, they have liked it.
Mayor Greg Davis says employee comments have been favorable so the city will likely stay with the four-day work week in 2009.
On Aug. 4, when gas prices were close to $5 a gallon, the board of aldermen adopted the shorter week for some city employees to help them save on personal fuel costs.
It affected about 20 employees in municipal court, the utility department and the planning and engineering department.
Department heads were exempt.
The four-day, 10-hour schedule has employees working from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and City Hall is open longer under the new schedule.
