Concordia Parish will not raise recreation fees for 2009

VIDALIA — The Concorida Parish Recreation District 3 has announced that all youth programs will not increase registration fees for 2009.
“Recreation Director Mike Bowlin, Girls softball president Greg Young and Dixie Boys President James Thomas agreed that although costs of running the leagues have risen, the current economic climate means we hhave to tighten our budgets so more kids can play,” the district said in a statement Tuesday. “The more participation we get int he programs, the better it is for the whole community.”
Tryouts for Miss-Lou Youth Basketball will be held starting Jan. 12, with second and third grade girls tryouts from 6 to 7 p.m. and boys from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m at the Vidalia Upper Elementary gymnasium.
Fourth grade girls will tryout from 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 13, and boys from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. that day at the elementary school gym.
Sixth grade girls will tryout from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Vidalia Junior High gym, followed by the boys from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Registration for all ages will be held at the Upper Elementary from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 8 and will cost $50.00.
