FARMERVILLE, La. — Services for Mildred Wheeler, 66, of Marion, La., who died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, from a lengthy illness, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don McClure and the Rev. Don Reeves officiating.
Burial will follow at Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, La.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wheeler was born Feb. 7, 1942, the daughter of Vernon Hosey Staggs and Eula Staggs, both of Natchez. She made many friends over the years working as a liaison of rehab hospitals in north Louisiana. She was also a homemaker and took much joy in raising three of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty McGraw and Gloria Caraway; and two children, Doyle A. White and Tracy L. Barney.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Wheeler; three children, Darrell White and his family, Lisa, Heather, Alexis and Heath, the Rev. Derek White and his family, Jennifer and Laurel, and Lisa Sims and her family, Dale, Leah and Anna; six grandchildren, Allen White, Meaghan, Nathan and Joseph Abuelkhair, Elizabeth Renee Reppond and Ronnie Sue Barney; four stepchildren and step-grandchildren, Donald Wheeler Jr., Darren Wheeler and his family, Sandy, Tyler and Hayley, Willie Wheeler and Angie Forbes and her family, Mallory and Cole; and a number of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be John “Buster” Maxie, Don Wheeler Jr., Darren “Dinky” Wheeler, Heath White, Joseph Elkhair and Allen White.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Wheeler, Nathan Elkhair and Perry Stouffer.
The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice Care of North Louisiana, churches in the community, family and friends who brought food and gifts during this difficult time.
