Wilkinson County wreck victims identified

WOODVILLE — The Mississippi Highway Patrol has positively confirmed the identities of two victims of a deadly accident on New Year’s Eve.

The driver of the SUV that’s believed to have caused the accident was Vanessa Blackmore, 41, her passenger was 64-year-old Annie May Ephion.

Both women were Woodville residents.

MHP Sgt. Rusty Boyd said the two women were positively identified after the SUV’s vehicle identification number was located and Blackmore’s sister was contacted and made the confirmation.

Boyd said it’s not known if Blackmore and Ephion were related.

However, the investigation revealed the to women had just left the Wilkinson County Jail after visiting one of Blackmore’s relatives.

Authorities do not know to were headed after leaving the county jail, Boyd said.

Essie Green and Dijonnaise Rutledge, 15, were also killed in the accident when the vehicle they were in was hit head-on by the vehicle Blackmore was driving.

The vehicle Blackmore was driving was her sister’s and has been identified as a 2005 GMC Denali.

The accident occurred on Mississippi 24.
