NATCHEZ — Services for Janet Lamb Reed, 45, of Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jefferson Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edwin Temple officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Reed was born Easter Sunday, April 14, 1963, and passed from her earthly home to our heavenly Father on Epiphany, Jan. 6, 2009.
Janet graduated from Hendersonville High School in Hendersonville, Tenn., and Copiah-Lincoln Junior College with a degree in food sciences which enabled her services to the church and community with her love of food and cooking.
She was a devoted member of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church where she found delight in serving as a communion steward, wonderful Wednesday kitchen coordinator and working with the children. Her greatest joy was singing in the chancel choir on Sunday mornings. In addition, Janet volunteered at Natchez Regional Medical Center where her sweet smile warmed those around. Her friendly jolly spirit endeared her to all, from playing games and puzzles with her nieces to sitting with the elderly — Janet loved and was loved.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lamb of Oxford and Captain and Mrs. Bryant Reed Sr. of Natchez
Janet was the beloved daughter of Bryant and Jean Reed and the devoted sister to Walter, Jena and Jesselyn; loving niece to Jesselyn Lamb, Lanius Reed Fortenbery, Carolyn Reed Kaiser; loving sister-in-law to Thomas John Wetzel; and loving aunt to Callie Elizabeth, Catie Reed and Courtney John Wetzel.
Family and friends are blessed that Janet Lamb was with them 45 wonderful years and touched the lives of so many. Truly goodness, mercy and Jesus Christ’s love were Janet’s footprints in life.
Pallbearers will be David Pyron, Mark Fortenbery, Patrick Wells, Butch Johnson and Shelton Hand.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stuart Hudnall, Judge John Hudson and members of the Jefferson Street United Methodist Church wonderful Wednesday and breakfast cooking groups.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Jefferson Street United Methodist Church organ restoration fund.
